GREENSBURG, Ks. - Residents of tornado-ravaged Greensburg, Kansas, will be allowed to return to their homes this morning to sift through what is left.

An E.F. 5 tornado destroyed the town Friday. Eight people are known dead but that number could rise. Fresh search and rescue dogs will be brought in today to aid in the hunt for survivors and the dead.

Meantime, Governor Kathleen Sebelius says the rebuilding effort likely will be hampered because some much-needed equipment is in Iraq.

She says much of the National Guard equipment usually positioned around the state to respond to emergencies is gone. She says not having immediate access to things like tents, trucks and semi trailers will really handicap the rebuilding effort.

The Greensburg administrator estimates that 95 percent of the town of 1,500 was destroyed by Friday's tornado. Greensburg residents will be bused in and must leave by 6 p.m.

Greensburg is about 110 miles west of Wichita.
