EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- New students at Southern Illinois University's campuses in Edwardsville and Carbondale will be paying about $1,000 more this fall.
The university's Board of Trustees signed off on the increases Thursday.
New full-time students at the Carbondale campus will pay $540 more a year in tuition. That's a 9.3% increase over last year -- for a total of $6,348 a year.
At the Edwardsville campus, new full-time students will pay an extra $470 dollars in tuition, up 9.9% over last year -- for a total of $5,227 a year.
Fees will rise about $550 at the Carbondale school and $624 at the Edwardsville campus.
