MINER, Mo. - Two new Miner council members were sworn in at Tuesday night's council meeting.  Mayor Betty Barnes made some changes of her own. The Mayor did not re-appoint city attorney Blake Pearson. Instead, she appointed Joe Fox as the new Miner city attorney.

Mayor Barnes also appointed Randy Allen as the new fire chief, code enforcement officer, and building inspector.  Allen is a former member of the Miner fire department. "I think these changes are in the best interest of the city of Miner," Barnes said. "When I was elected last year, I was a given a job to do. I am going to do the best job for the people of Miner."

Allen told the crowd that no one from the volunteer fire department would be fired. But during a meeting with the firefighters after the council adjourned, a source familiar with the meetings says Allen told firefighters he wants to bring in his "own men," totaling more than a dozen.
