CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. --It looks like Southern Illinois Univeristy Saluki head basketball coach Chris Lowery is staying in Carbondale.
Saturday night ESPN.com reported Lowery has agreed to a new 7-year deal worth $750,000 dollars a year.
Lowery has coached the Salukis to three consecutive NCAA Tournament berths including this past season's #4 seed, the program's highest to date.
SIU finished the 2006-07 season with a school-record 29 victories and the program's second run to the Sweet 16 in 5 years where they lost to top seeded Kansas 61-58 in the West Regional Semifinals.
Lowery has recently been mentioned as a candidate for jobs at Michigan and Iowa.
