If you have a package of Oscar Mayer, Louis Rich brand chicken in your fridge, you need to take a close look at it.
Oscar Mayer is recalling almost 53,000 pounds of these grilled chicken strips after an inspection in Georgia turned up possible contamination with listeria. The bacteria causes a rare but potentially fatal illness.
The chicken came from Carolina Culinary Foods in West Columbia, South Carolina.
The batch in question has a use-by date of April 19th. Also look for the USDA stamp on the front and the number p-19676.
So far, there are no reports of any illnesses and no word yet on what caused the contamination.
