Rained-out Roads Cause Travel Troubles

Drivers in Williamson County were forced to take alternate routes Monday due to a number of washed out roads and bridges.

The weekend's heavy rains turned creeks into roaring rivers across the Heartland. Williamson County Officials were forced to barricade some of the roads due to more than three feet of swift running waters. Stotlar Road east of Route 37 was completely washed out and impassable. The Saline River bridge was under an estimated two feet of water and had to be closed. Some roads will remain closed until repairs can be made and the roadbeds rebuilt. For now the Sheriffs' Department and the Williamson County Highway Department are asking that drivers detour around the washed out roads instead of trying to cross them and endangering lives.
