"Day After" Shopping
By: Holly Brantley
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. --On the day after Christmas, shoppers lined up at local stores to be the first to snatch up post holiday mark downs. Meanwhile, others bagged and boxed up unwanted gifts and headed for the return line. But this year, there weren't as many returns. Managers at Target in Cape Girardeau say 100 lined up early in the morning to shop.
Many people actually went out to show off their new presents. For people in Southeast Missouri, what better place to see and be seen than the Christmas basketball tournament at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau.
"I have a new scarf, and new gloves," said Mary Talbut of Jackson. "I don't a new watch so I don't lose time," said her son, Riley Talbut.
For people that are still in the market for new clothes, or getting ready to cash in those gift cards, retail experts say winter clothing will be marked down in much of the country because of slow sales caused by warm weather.
