Sikeston, MO - Police have arrested the man they think stabbed a woman in the shoulder Wednesday at the Sikeston Wal-Mart.

The suspect is 29-year-old Alex Hamilton of Howardville. The victim is 56-year-old Rose McClendon of Charleston.

Police think Hamilton may have been trying to take McClendon's purse. They say Hamilton stabbed McClendon in the shoulder, but McClendon knocked the knife out of Hamilton's hand and Hamilton walked away.

McClendon went to the hospital and was treated and released.
