Child Struck By Train

Scott City, MO -- An investigation is underway in Scott City after a child is hit by a train.

Scott City Police Chief Don Cobb tells Heartland News a seven year old girl had crawled under a stationary train Sunday afternoon at the State Street crossing.

Chief Cobb says the driver of the train moved forward and that's when it happened.  The train struck one of the child's arms and an amputation may have to be performed.

The child was taken to a Cape Girardeau h ospital for treatment; she's since been transferred to Cardinal Glennon Hospital in Saint Louis.
