Independent wrestling show coming to Heartland viewers

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Cape Championship Wrestling has been an independent wrestling organization for almost 3 years.

The independent wrestling company just recently made a deal with KBSI FOX 23 to do a weekly show every Sunday at 5 a.m. titled "Cape Championship Wrestling Presents CCW: Chaos".

Lee Montgomery co-owner of Cape Championship Wrestling said that they have fans come from all over to watch and that he believes this will only help to grow their fan base and possibly recruit new talent.

"A lot of people miss that intimacy of really being able to be close to the wrestlers and being able to interact with them and that's kind of what independent wrestling is. It gives you that thrill of going to a wrestling show but it also gives you a sense of intimacy where you can actually interact with the wrestlers," said Montgomery said.

Lee said that once viewership grows they hope to one day have a prime time spot on the channel.

The next live show they have will be on July 28 at Cape Girardeau's Arena Park, featuring the first NWA World Heavyweight Championship event in Missouri since 1991.

Lee said that events like this are a great alternative to bigger shows like the WWE.
