Bernie, Dexter, Lilbourn, New Madrid, Scott Co. Rural, Advance, Bloomfield fire crews all responded and assisted.

Some firefighters got checked out for possible heat exhaustion as a precaution due to the humid conditions and the large fire but no one was injured, according to Bernie Fire Chief Leroy Stockton.

Around 1:30 p.m., crews were dispatched to the fire.

The cause of the fire was due to a pop-off valve failure and then when the power was shut off, the four tanks caught fire.
