A phone scam is making its rounds in Dunklin County according to the sheriff's office.

Someone is calling residents saying they have a warrant out of Dunklin County and that in order to keep from being arrested they are to bring money to the Dollar General Store and buy two cards, then mail the cards to a certain city. 

According to the sheriff's office, any questions relating to a request for money from the Dunklin County Sheriffs' Office is a scam.   The number given to contact the sheriffs' office has been given out as 573-271 5263. 

When that number is called it is answered by recording as the Dunklin County Sheriffs' Office.  

This is a scam and if you receive one of these calls, call the sheriff office in Kennett if you have questions. The sheriffs' office correct number is 573-888-2424.
