Sheriff: Woman wakes up, finds 2 unknown women in Massac Co., IL home

MASSAC COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Two Massac County, Illinois women were arrested after they were reportedly found in a woman's home Sunday, July 8.

According to the Massac County Sheriff's Office, a woman living at on the 2200 block of Crim Rd. woke up and found the two unknown females inside her home.

When the homeowner confronted the two women, they took off and left the home.

Before the two women left, the homeowner was able to take a picture and shared it with a deputy.

The Sheriff says the deputy investigating the case was able to use the photo to track down the intruders.

The deputy found the first suspect, 37-year-old Stephanie Sims, of Metropolis, when she came to the Massac County Detention Center to visit an inmate.

Sims was interviewed and arrested.

The second suspect, 33-year-old Ashley Jenkins, of Brookport, was taken into custody at a home in Brookport, interviewed at the Sheriff's Office, and later arrested.

Both Sims and Jenkins were booked into the Massac County Detention Center.

The sheriff believes the two suspects were attempting to burglarize the home.
