Marion, KY youth group in Haiti among riots, traveling home

MARION, KY (KFVS) -

A group of young people from a Marion, Kentucky church is returning home after a mission trip to Haiti among ongoing riots.

According to church member Keith Todd, the youth group is from Life-in-Christ Church in Marion.

Todd said the group was in the country for one week when they were preparing to return home.

The group managed to make it to a hotel where they held up to await the reopening of the airport according to Todd. 

They helped another group trying to get home from a mission trip as well.

Todd said after about a day or two they were able to get a flight back home. The mission team got to the airport Sunday according to Todd and managed to get a flight to Miami.  They anticipate getting into Nashville sometime Monday, July 9.
