5K run/walk held in Jackson, MO

JACKSON, MO (KFVS) - The southeast Healthpoint Independence Day 5k has quite a following.

More than over runners and walkers registered for this year's event.

The male winner was Dan Plunkett, an all-conference runner for SEMO with a time of 16:12.

Overall female winner was Carli Knott a Jackson, Mo. Native and SEMO runner.

"It's definitely fun, it's a nice race for the summer and everything, to get out and compete, they put out a really good event today. "Is it kind of cool to participate in this local race," said Plunkett.

"Yeah, I went to Jackson High School, so it was nice seeing everyone, I ran with my high school teammates, so it was really fun, added Knott.
