ATV driver fails to stop, ejected from vehicle along with passenger in Massac Co., IL

MASSAC COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - A crash in Massac County, Illinois happened on Unionville Road at Mt. Sterling Road Thursday night.

Zak A. Anderson, 25, Metropolis, Illinois was issued the following citations:

  • Driving While License Suspended
  • Disregarding a Traffic Control Device
  • Too fast for Conditions
  • Careless Operation of an ATV
  • Improper Lane Usage
  • Operation of an ATV on a Highway
  • Operating an Uninsured vehicle
  • Operation of a vehicle with Defective Brakes

According to officials with the Illinois State Police, the crash happened at 8:28 p.m. on March 22.

Anderson drove a yellow Honda four-wheeler with 22-year-old Brittney E. Bradley as a passenger.

Police said Anderson was traveling north on Mt. Sterling and accelerated to a higher speed while coming to the intersection of Mt. Sterling and Unionville Road.

The driver did not stop at the intersection stop sign and attempted to turn left onto Unionville Rd according to police. Anderson then ran off the left-hand side of the road and struck a brick garage,

Anderson and Bradley were ejected according to police and were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
