COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

An accident with injuries has been reported on an access road to Highway I-185 northbound.

In response, CPD blocked the access roads from JR Allen eastbound and westbound onto I-185 northbound.

I-185 northbound going east to JR Allen remains closed.

The Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan has confirmed that two people have died in this accident.

47-year-old Lee Edward Heath, a Phenix City resident, and 32-year-old Anthony Lee Ryan Jensen were both killed in the accident.

Heath ran out of gas and pulled off onto the access road from JR Allen onto I-185 northbound. He then called Pop-A-Lock and Jensen, the employee, responded.

Both men were outside the truck putting in gas when a Nissan side-swiped the truck, hitting both parties.

"They were in the process of putting it in the car..well truck. They were standing outside the vehicle. A gentleman came up in a Nissan and hit the truck on the right quarter-panel first and then both the victims as well," Said Bryan.

The families of both victims have been notified.
