"We are in the process of executing our due diligence as it relates to an ongoing investigation and feel that this an appropriate step at this time," said Vince Tyra, the Acting Director of Athletics. "Our university will continue to fully cooperate with federal authorities in their investigation."

Last week, the FBI announced a far-reaching investigation into allegations of bribery and corruption involving several prominent college basketball programs, including UofL.

Cards coach Rick Pitino and Director of Athletics Tom Jurich were placed on administrative leave Sept. 27 by Dr. Gregory Postel, the University's interim president.

Assistant coach David Padgett, a former UofL player, was elevated to acting coach.

Taking Johnson's and Fair's places on the bench, at least temporarily, are Michael Bowden, Logan Baumann and R.J. Evans. Those three men were already employed by UofL and will assist Padgett in practices.
