JEFFERSON CITY, MO (KFVS) - More motorcyclists are on the road and the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety reminds drivers to be on the lookout while sharing the highway with bikers.
During Motorcycle Awareness Month in May, drivers of cars and trucks are urged to follow the rules of the road and be respectful to those who are traveling on two wheels.
Always allow a safe distance when following a motorcycle, check your blind spots and use turn indicators when changing lanes.
Riders should position themselves in lanes that are the most visible to drivers, have the necessary safety equipment on their vehicles and wear the proper protective gear.
Last year, 122 people in Missouri lost their lives in motorcycle crashes.
