Police chase ends in deadly crash

CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A Missouri man is dead after a police chase ended in a crash in Christian County.

It happened just before 2 a.m. on Saturday, April 15 three miles south of Republic, Mo.

Deputies were chasing an SUV driven by Christopher L. Wilder, 34, when the vehicle went off the road and hit a tree, according to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The report states the SUV then went airborne, ejecting Wilder and an unidentified female passenger from the vehicle, then hit a second tree before landing on the ground.

The female was taken to a hospital in Springfield, Mo. with "serious" injuries. Wilder's body was taken to a mortuary.

According to the report, neither the female or Wilder were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The report by the highway patrol did not indicate what prompted the chase.
