Local Baseball Stars Head to the Big Leagues

Two local baseball talents are headed to the big leagues.  Patrick Finigan, was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the seventh round as the 240th overall pick.  Finigan pitched and played shortstop for the Southern Illinois Salukis and was the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year this past season.  Finigan was picked by the Tigers as a pitcher; this past season he was 9-3 with a 3.24 earned run average.
Another local prospect, Michael Broadway, was drafted in the fourth round as the 137th overall pick by the Atlanta Braves.  Broadway was a pitcher for Pope County High School in Golconda, Illinois.
