Franklin County, IL -- Emergency and Disaster Services Agency volunteers have a new weapon to help them fight back, should a terrorist attack ever happen in Franklin County . It's a 20-foot trailer equipped with hundreds of first aid supplies and haz-mat cleanup equipment.

The trailer comes equipped with its own generator, hot water heater, 280-pound inflatable tents and other various equipment needed in all types of disasters.

However, the trailer is also one man's ticket to retirement. The terror response trailer is something Art Bourland has been working hard to get, for Franklin county.

Bourland says, the addition of this trailer makes him feel confident his crews now have the best tools to help them during all types of disasters.

For the last 30 years, Bourland has volunteered with ESDA. During half of those three decades, he served as coordinator for the county.

"I'm tired. I've been on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the last 26 years!  That includes Christmas and Thanksgiving, and I'm tired.  There's no holidays in this business,” said Bourland.

Don't let him fool you!  Bourland says, he'll get the training needed, just like the rest of the ESDA volunteers, to use all of the equipment in the trailer.

Plus, his wife will continue volunteering in her post, as assistant Franklin County ESDA coordinator.
