Today in History: Bonnie and Clyde

(KFVS) -

It was on this date 87 years ago a fateful meeting took place in Texas.

That's when Clyde Barrow met Bonnie Parker at the home of one of Clyd's friends in Dallas.

Soon after the two would go on a multi-state crime spree which made them famous during the Great Depression.

Their trail of robberies and murder took them through the south and Midwest. The two were involved in a shootout in Joplin, Missouri.

After the Barrow gang fled a cottage they had rented, police found many of their belongings inside.  That included a camera with some undeveloped film. A Joplin newspaper developed the film and that's where these pictures came from.

Their criminal careers ended in Mayo f 1934 when they were ambushed and killed by police in rural Louisiana.

Despite their life of crime, their story has led to popular songs and movies telling the story of Bonnie and Clyde.
