2 killed on MO roadways during New Year's holiday

MISSOURI (KFVS) -

Two people were killed in the more than 200 crashes that occurred on Missouri roadways over the New Year's Holiday.

The holiday counting period runs from 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016 to 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 2., 2017.

That's down from last year when seven people were killed.

Both deadly crashes happened on New Year's Day.

According to the patrol, Kenneth Claypool, 48, of Branson died when another car crossed the center line and hit Claypool's car nearly head on. It happened on Missouri Highway 76 east of Kirbyville.

Dillon Ramey, 25, of Tipton was killed when his vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree in Moniteau County. It happened on U.S. Highway 50.

According to the patrol, 103 people were arrested for driving while intoxicated.

67 people were arrested on drug charges during the holiday time period.
