One of the newest additions to the Heartland was born at Southeast Health on New Year's Day.

Victoria and Clark Johnson welcomed their new baby girl Caroline Grace Johnson.

Caroline was born at 3:40 a.m. on Sunday. She weighed 7 pounds and 1 ounce and measured at 21 inches in length.

Victoria said this was a nice surprise that Caroline is a New Year baby.

"We were scheduled to be induced this Wednesday, the fourth but she decided to come a little early," Victoria said. "Well, I guess late because her due date was the 30th."

Caroline was swaddled snugly in a blanket and had on mittens and a one of a kind hat that was made just for her by hospital volunteers.

Her big brother Carter said he was also excited to have a baby sister, but didn't want to take part in changing any diapers just yet.

When asked if he would be helping with diaper duty, he had a simple and direct answer.

"No!" Carter replied as their family laughed and smiled afterward.

Victoria said she is very happy and can't wait to settle down and spend time with her family.

"Very exciting. Just adding in the first baby of the new year surprise was, makes it that much better."
