FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

A man is behind bars tonight on a DUI charge after he crashed his vehicle in Franklin County, Illinois.

On Saturday, Dec. 24, troopers with the Illinois State Police say Gary L. Hoskins, 59, was driving northbound on IL. Rt 184, approaching the intersection of IL. Rt 14 and IL. 184. Hoskins failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection, driving across both the eastbound and westbound lanes of IL. Rt 14. He then ran off of the roadway along the north side of IL. Rt 14 impacting the ditch embankment.

Troopers arrived on the scene and were able to determine that Hoskins had been driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and transported from the scene by Abbott EMS to the Herrin Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Hoskins is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane change, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to wear seat belt, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operation of an uninsured vehicle.
