The Stoddard County Ambulance District conducted their 31st "Home for the Holidays" project on Christmas Eve.

We rode along with the ambulance crew as they picked up James Stogsdill from his family in Bernie and took him back to the Cypress Point Rehabilitation Center in Dexter.

Upon arriving at his family's home, Stogsdill had just finished watching the movie "White Christmas" and said he had a great visit.

"Well I had dinner and watched a movie," Stogsdill said. "It was good to get away from the nursing home."

Stogsdill and his family felt grateful for the services of the emergency responders with the Stoddard County Ambulance District that were able to pick him up and drop him off for his visit.

"They provide good service," Stogsdill said. "I can be with my family!".

EMTB James Martin said it feels good to help out those that need a ride to visit with their loved ones.

"It makes me happy because I know they're getting to do what they want to do," Martin said. "They don't have to stay in the nursing home. They can go home and be with their family, eat a meal home cooked and just enjoy family time."

The Stoddard County Ambulance District has volunteered to help out patients such as Stogsdill free of charge for any patient in Stoddard County for Christmas Eve and on Christmas.

They expect to help out roughly half a dozen more patients on Christmas Day.

"It means a lot," Martin said. "I care about my family and I know that they care about theirs. I would want somebody to do that for me so I want to do it for them when I can and I'm sure it makes their Christmas a whole lot better."
