(KFVS) -

Let's check out the music scene from this week 19 years ago.

The year was 1997 and these were the songs sitting at the top of Billboard Magazine's Hot 100 chart.

At number five was Puff Daddy and The Family with Been Around the World. The song samples David Bowie's Let's Dance and also featured the vocals of The Notorious B.I.G. and Mase.

Checking in at number four was Janet Jackson with Together Again. Jackson wrote the song as a tribute to a friend who had recently died from AIDS.

In the number three spot was You Make Me Wanna by Usher. The pop ballad was the opening track to Usher's album My Way.

LeAnn Rimes was holding down the number two spot.  How Do I Live would spend a then record 69 weeks on the Hot 100 chart. Thirty-two of those weeks were in the top ten.  The song ranks number 4 on Billboard's All Time Hot 100.  It's the highest ranking song on the list to not hit number one.

And in the top spot for this week in '97 was Elton John with Candle in the Wind 1997.  John re-wrote and re-recorded his original version from 1973 as a tribute to Princess Diana. It was Sir Elton's 9th number one single and it spent an amazing 14 weeks atop the charts. The song has sold over 33 million copies making it and Bing Crosby's White Christmas  the best selling singles of all time.
