Benton, IL man in custody after 2-hour manhunt

BENTON, IL (KFVS) -

A Benton, Illinois man is in custody after a two-hour manhunt on Tuesday, December 20.

Keith A. Dunagan, 36, was wanted for felony retail theft and obstructing a police officer.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Dunagan is also a suspect in several other crimes.

Deputies say he was seen at around 4 p.m. in a field north of Heritage Woods on the northeast edge of Benton and then fled into a wooded area.

Sheriff's deputies, a K-9 and Benton and West City officers conducted a search.

Dunagan was eventually found in an attic crawl space where he had ran and hid.

Deputies say he surrendered when the K-9 was released.

He is being held in the Franklin County Jail.
