MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A crash in McCracken County, Kentucky sent two teenagers to the hospital Monday evening.

On Monday, Dec. 19 around 6:40 p.m., the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a collision at the intersection of US Highway 60 and Cairo Road.

Deputies learned that John Carman, 38, of Barlow, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet 1500 truck westbound on US 60. Carman’s ten-year-old son was also in the vehicle.

For unknown reasons, Carman failed to see a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu stopped at the red light at westbound US 60 at Cairo Road. Carman struck the Malibu in the rear and both vehicles came to rest within the intersection. The Malibu was driven by Jacqualyn Tipton, 17, of LaCenter, and occupied by Haylie Barker, 14, also of LaCenter.

Tipton and Barker were both taken to Western Baptist Hospital by Mercy Regional EMS for minor injuries.

Westbound US 60 at Cairo Road was reduced to one lane of travel for approximately one hour to aid crews in the investigation and scene clean-up.
