First Alert Weather Outlook:

Bitter cold continues for your Monday morning. Brian says it will be the coldest morning in the Heartland since January! Waking up, bundle up! Temperatures will be around 10 degrees and parts of the Heartland are under a windchill advisory. By lunchtime it will be mostly sunny, but scold with temperatures still below freezing. FIRST ALERT: Christmas weekend looks a little warmer, but there’s the possibility of rain.

Making Headlines:

Business fire: Several fire crews battled a business fire in Mt. Vernon. Dispatchers say firefighters were called out around 12:30 a.m. to a building on Broadway that houses Sears Hometown Store and USA Mattress Outlet.

In recovery: A firefighter was injured during a 4-alarm fire at an abandoned building on the north riverfront in St. Louis. The initial call was a second alarm fire at the St. Louis Refrigeration and Ice Company, a five-story building that is currently abandoned. But the severity of the fire was updated during the course of the effort to put out the flames. 

Under investigation: An autopsy is scheduled for Monday after a hunter found a body of a woman in a lake in Ohio County, Kentucky on Sunday. At this point in the investigation, homicide has not been ruled out as a cause of death.

Canceled flightsWeather is to blame for canceled flights to and from Barkley Regional Airport. The airport posted late Sunday evening that United Airlines canceled the flight that was supposed to leave at 6:20 this morning.

Large hail, heavy winds and isolated tornadoes are the primary threats.  Stay with First Alert Weather for the very latest.  It's a good idea to keep your mobile devices charged in case there are any power outages.
