CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

As the weather got colder across the Heartland this weekend, many might assume that online shopping would increase. But the final weekend before Christmas has seen many in-store shoppers.

Roughly 160 Million shoppers hit the store this weekend, according to the National Retail Federation. Multiple shoppers said that even with the weather serving as a problem, they choose to go to the stores to ensure that they have their gifts in hand by Christmas morning.

"Well I think it was more a mad house yesterday because it is the last weekend," last-minute shopper, Roger Berkbuegler said. "That storm was coming through yesterday and I think everyone wanted to get out and get their shopping done before it actually hit."

He said he was picking up the last minute additions to Christmas lists.

According to a survey done by the NRF, more Americans will shop this weekend than on Black Friday weekend.
