MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department is reporting a Kentucky woman was rescued after a crash sent her vehicle into a creek full of water on Saturday, Dec. 17.

Deputies were dispatched to the area of Old Hwy 60 near the intersection on MacGruder Road for a reported crash where a vehicle was in a creek and the driver was trapped.

West McCracken Fire also responded. Upon arrival, firefighters found the driver had crawled out of the vehicle and onto the roof of the vehicle where crews were then able to get to her.

The investigation revealed that the driver was driving eastbound on Old Hwy 60 and swerved to avoid hitting a deer. The vehicle left the roadway and slid into a creek that was full of water due to heavy rain.

The driver, identified as 35-year-old Amanda Mowery, of Kevil, Kentucky. She was taken by personal vehicle to an area hospital to be treated for non-incapacitating injuries.

As of 9 p.m. Saturday, vehicle recovery was still under way by a towing company.
