(KFVS) -

If you are checking your list twice, or haven't finished your Christmas shopping yet, Friday is the day for you.

Dec. 16 is Free Shipping Day, an annual online-shopping event that started in 2007.

The biggest perk: thousands of stores offer free shipping and guaranteed delivery by Christmas Eve.

That is good news for you and the merchants since a recent survey shows 90 percent of consumers spend more when offered free delivery, while nearly half will abandon a shopping cart if met with high fees.

Before you add any item to your cart, here is what you need to know.

More than 1,000 retailers are participating

To "participate," an e-retailer is supposed to offer free shipping, whit no minimum purchase on all orders with delivery by Christmas Eve.

Big box stores are taking part

Save some green at stores like Target, JCPenney, Bass Pro Shops, Toys R Us, Best Buy, which are all offering free shipping.

There are hundreds of others.

CLICK HERE for a full list of stores.

When does it start?

All Free Shipping Day offers will be revealed at 12:01 a.m. EST on December 16, 2016.

Get more bang for your buck

Many retailers will offer special discounts on top of free shipping.

Make sure you shop around for the best deals before placing your order.
