OLNEY, IL (KFVS) -

The man accused of raping and murdering an 8-year-old girl will undergo a mental health exam to determine if he's competent to stand trial.

Glenn Ramey, 53, of Olney is accused of killing Sabrina Stauffenberg on Nov. 23.

Investigators say Ramey abducted the young girl while she waiting on her front porch in Olney for a church bus to pick her up.

He is charged with murder and predatory criminal sexual assault.

Ramey's attorney filed a motion asking that he undergo a psychological evaluation to determine if he's fit to stand trial.

The attorney submitted information about a case from 2011 in Crawford County, Ill. which also questioned Ramey's mental competency.

A status hearing was set for Jan. 27.

If convicted, Ramey faces life in prison.
