(KFVS) -

What do you have up in your living room this holiday season?

There has been a long debate between a real or fake Christmas tree, especially this time of year.

A new survey says that Americans prefer the artificial variety over buying a real Christmas tree.

The Christmas Tree promotion board says 31 percent prefer a fake one.

On the other hand, 25 percent of people alternate between a real and fake and the rest don't even bother getting a tree.

That is why this holiday season, the Christmas Tree Promotion Board is raising awareness of the benefits of real trees and supporting our nation’s tree farmers with our “It’s Christmas. Keep it Real” campaign.

The board says Christmas is about celebrating cherished traditions and creating new ones for years to come.

"There’s nothing artificial about that!"
