Ste. Genevieve held its Community Center Christmas Fair and Santa's Bash on Saturday, Dec. 10.
The event brought in around 1,000 people.
The goal for this event was to give children and their families a fun time at no expense all while being able to shop for some local gifts.
People we spoke with say it's important to spend quality time with their children and have fun especially around the Christmas holiday.
There were many local vendors with unique gifts and plenty of games for the children, as well.
Santa even dropped by for some pictures with the children,
One parent said it's times like these that make family and togetherness an important part in raising a child and helping them in their life developments.
"To always have a strong family background, it helps kids develop good characteristics, good morals, good skills, all that," Collin McGee of Ste. Genevieve said. "So I do think it's very important."
Chris Meyer of St. Louis agrees.
"It's more important than anything," Meyer said. "It really is. You know I get my children on the weekends and love to do things like this. Open up, have a good time, meet the neighborhood. They go to school here so they get to see all their friends."
The money raised from this event goes back into planning the event for the following year.
