1 in custody after suspicious fire in Scott County

SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

According to Scott County Rural Fire Chief Jeremy Perrien, one person has been taken in custody and is being questioned after a fire that happened in Scott County Thursday night.

The fire started at 7:38 p.m. at 4236 Highway 77.

There were three people inside the home when the fire started.

Investigators believe the fire started in a closet in the carport and spread from there. 

Perrien said fire damaged the carport, attic, a closet and a utility room.

The kitchen also received water damage after water fell through from the attic as firefighters from Scott County Rural and NBC were putting out the blaze. 

This fire is considered suspicious and is under investigation.
