Murphysboro, IL -- Murphysboro city leaders want to bring a Wal-Mart Supercenter to their town, so they asked the community to help.

Supercenter supporters dotted the Murphysboro town square with their messages on Saturday.  Many Wal-Mart employees from other towns were on hand to explain some of the advantages a supercetner brings to a community.
While some took time to sign a petition at the rally supporting Wal-Mart, the "friends for fair growth" organization posted their own message along route 13 leading into town.  The organization says, they're not against Wal-Mart or the city of Murphysboro, they just don't want the Wal-Mart Supercenter on Country Club Road.
Murphysboro Mayor Ron Williams, tells Heartland News Wal-Mart executives have assured him that if they build a supercenter in Murphysboro, the corporation will pick up the tab for all traffic controls and infrastructure needed to support a Wal-Mart Supercenter. Extended Web Coverage
