Missouri plans to join an Amber Alert system using the Internet to allow you to get electronic alerts about searches.
Governor Blunt announced the expanded system today at a Highway Patrol headquarters in St. Louis County. He says it will provided real-time information. It will allow more people to keep an eye out for missing children.
After citizens sign up, the Web portal Missouri is joining allows Amber Alerts to be sent to cell phones, pagers and e-mails.
Amber Alerts are issued when children are believed to be abducted. The alert includes a description or picture of the child and information about a suspected perpetrator or the person's vehicle.
