MALDEN, MO (KFVS) -

You would never know Peggy Thompson celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday.

She is likely a supporter of the saying, "age ain't nothing but a number."

"You don't concentrate on that number," Thompson said. "Just that you're here."

Born in 1916, Thompson has been there and done that.

"I'm originally form St. Louis. I went to Roosevelt High, went to southeast Missouri, taught school, got married, had a family."

She makes it sound more simple than it really is.

"I like to travel," Thompson said. "I wanted to see the world."

And she did.

From Kewanee, to Alaska to, Israel, she has been all over.

Her favorite travel story to tell is about her time spent alongside her husband, an army medic.

"I went all up and down the east coast as long as Price," Thompson explained. "There were four medics. They were preparing to go overseas. So every place they went, I did."

Thompson was even baptized in the Jordan River in Israel.

"I've had a good time," Thompson said. "Not so good sometimes. You know it's not all perfect. That would be kind of dull."

Besides being a world traveler, Thompson is well known for her laugh.

"You have to laugh a lot," Thompson said. "You can't cry because you'd cry all the time."

Her advice for a long, fulfilling life:

"See and do as much as you can. It's more fun."

Fun and laughter, Thompson says is what keeps her young.

"Well here I am. Do I look like I am going to quit soon?"
