UNION CITY, TN (KFVS) -

A company has announced a workforce reduction of 40 production and 4 administrative positions at its shower door facility in Union City, Tennessee.

Kohler Co. says the workforce reduction - which also includes an additional 121 temporary positions - is "necessary to properly align the business with a recent reduction in demand."

In accordance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act requiring a 60-day advance notice, these 44 Kohler associates have been informed of their status with November 5 serving as the last day of employment.

They are eligible to apply for unemployment insurance. The company says they will continue monitoring the market and "adjust employment levels as demand dictates."

The company is also evaluating open positions at other locations throughout the U.S. as potential placement opportunities for impacted associates.
