PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

School officials in Paducah, Kentucky have confirmed an accident on Thursday involving a school bus.

Wayne Walden, a community relations spokesperson with Paducah schools, confirms that a Head Start bus was taking 18 preschool students home and was at the corner of Park Ave. and 13th St. in Paducah when it was rear ended.

According to police, the bus was swinging out to make a right turn when she said the car behind her pulled onto the shoulder and tried to make a right turn.

The driver of the car told an officer that he thought the bus was going straight through the intersection.

Walden said two children were sent to the hospital for observations, after it was believed that they may have received minor injuries. They have since been released.

The bus had to change a tire, and continued on its way.
