PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

Two Benton, Kentucky residents were injured after crashing into a Paducah fire truck on Wednesday, September 7.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m. Wednesday when a fire truck was en route to a medical emergency at a store near the Kentucky Oaks Mall. The fire truck had its emergency equipment activated and was stopped at a red light. The driver, Justin J. Gray, 33, of Paducah, said he thought all east-west traffic had stopped and so then proceeded into the intersection.

Billy D. York, 83, of Benton, told officers he was driving westbound and had a green light. He said he didn’t see the fire truck until the collision in the intersection.

York and his passenger, Flora M. York, 80, also of Benton, were taken by ambulance to Lourdes Hospital for treatment.

None of the firefighters on the truck were reported injured.
