Crash in Jackson Co., IL involving UPS vehicle sends 2 to hospital

JACKSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is reporting two people were injured in a crash involving a UPS truck on Tuesday, September 6.

Authorities responded to a report of a traffic crash on Hwy. 3 just west of Jones Ridge Road in Rockwood, Illinois.

A UPS vehicle driven by Christopher Johnson, 34, of Smithton, Illinois, was turning right into a driveway to make a delivery. As he was turning, he was rear-ended by a car driven by Aaron Ripley, 22, of Murphysboro, Illinois.

The impact caused the UPS vehicle to turn over onto its left side.

Both Johnson and Ripley were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries

Ripley was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Ava Fire Department, Ava first responders and the Jackson County Ambulance Service.
