SOUTHERN ILLINOIS (KFVS) -

The Illinois State Police is reporting one man was injured in a single-vehicle crash that occurred on Monday, September 5.

Troopers say the crash happened around 9 a.m. Monday near Illinois Route 149, just west of Illinois Route 148 near Zeigler and Franklin counties.

A preliminary investigative determined that a motorcycle driven by James T. Odum, 69, of West Frankfort, Illinois, was heading west bound on Illinois Route 149, nearing a private drive located at 3878 Illinois Route 149.

A west bound vehicle in front of Odum was turning left into the driveway. Odum failed to see the turning vehicle in time and lost control of the motorcycle.

Neither Odum nor his motorcycle struck the turning vehicle, however he was ejected from the motorcycle. Authorities report he was wearing a helmet.

Odum was transported to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries.

Illinois 149 was closed for less than 30 minutes for crash investigation and scene clean up.

Odum was cited for improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
