CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The SEMO District Fair is just around the corner and crews are already setting up.

Many tents are already up and in their place and some vendors are starting to set up, as well.

Pete Poe, SEMO District Fair Coordinator, said he expects to have another great year and said the weather looks to be cooperative.

"It all comes together now and when you first start seeing those small children come in and their eyes get big looking at the sights and sounds to the fair, it makes everything worth while," Poe said.

Poe said as of Sunday, September 4, they are prepping the smaller childrens area and expect animals to be arriving by Friday.

While the fair will be a great family event for all, one area of concern is a minor hiccup as far as traffic is the construction at the intersection of Rodney and Independence streets.

Poe said while this is a minor inconvenience, motorists can still travel through there to come to and from the fairgrounds.

"We're not limited to coming in on East Rodney on the south end," Poe said. "But if they do choose to come that way they can use West Drive. They can use Independence from the far reaches. They can come in on Silver Springs road but we also have three other directions to come in to the fairground. It will be a little inconvenient this year but it'd be worth it."

Poe said the construction is just part of growth in Cape Girardeau and will benefit the flow of traffic for the fair in 2017.

The SEMO District Fair kicks off on Saturday, September 10 and runs through Saturday, September 17.
