Rural life farming history tour to be held in southern IL

MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) -

Anthropologist and author Jane Adams will be hosting a tour of Jackson and Union county farming, history and transformation of rural life.

Guided bus tours will pass through Shawnee Hills, with special stops at the Union County Heritage Museum. In addition, the tour will also make its way to Bald Knob Cross, and stop at a sit-down lunch at the Yellow Moon cafe in Cobden.

The tour will take place on Saturday, September 10. The bus will collect people at 9:15 a.m. at John A. Logan College, and at 10 a.m. at the Murphysboro Walmart on Country Club road off Route 13.

Adams is the author of "The Transformation of Rural Life: Southern Illinois, 1890-1990."
