CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

Crews in Carbondale are working to repair a water main break right now.

According to the city, one of the main transmission lines is broken.

Crews are working to get the line shut off.

Lewis Lane from Grand Avenue to College Street is closed right now.

Drivers are asked to find alternate routes.

Schools in Carbondale were dismissed at 9:30 a.m. as a result of the break.

The high school football game was rescheduled from Friday night to the 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3.

The City of Carbondale has issued a precautionary boil water order until further notice. The affected area includes all City of Carbondale residents and businesses east of Wall Street. The water should be boiled for drinking and cooking purposes. It is safe for all other uses including bathing and hand washing.
