Labor Day weekend Pet Safety

ST. LOUIS (KFVS) -

Summer may be cooling off, but heat risks remain for our pets.

The Humane Society of Missouri's life-saving motto still applies:  "70 DEGREES & OVER, DON'T TAKE ROVER!"

Never leave a pet unattended in a parked car and if you see an animal in a vehicle, act immediately.

Apply cold water to your pet's extremities if they're showing signs of heat exhaustion.

Don't allow your pet to be stranded in the scorching sun.

Take frequent water breaks if walking or jogging with your dog.

The Humane Society reminds us that just because the temperatures are more comfortable for people, they can still be just as dangerous for animals.
